Following each donation, our food bank partners are asked to acknowledge the donations they receive from Community Loaves bakers. The purpose of the acknowledgement is to allow the food bank to confirm what they've received and to communicate any items of interest they wish to share—for example, a story of a recipient, special requests, or any challenges.
How food banks record and acknowledge food donations varies. They may count each item, or weigh the lot, or record in units of milk crates. It doesn't matter to us how they choose to record their donation. Again, the purpose is that it comes from them and gives them a chance to say, "Yes, I've received these items", and what they received.
Our food bank partners receive a reminder to record their donation. The reminder is sent on Tuesday of donation week and is only sent to those who've not yet completed the form.
As hub leaders, you are copied on the communication to your partnered food bank and also receive a copy of the completed donation acknowledgement. Please use your copy to check if there are any specific comments by your partnered food bank that you can share with your hub members.
